who it's for

Treatment for gum disease suits patients whose gums bleed, recede, or have been found to have deepening pockets at a routine dental visit.

  • Noticing bleeding, soreness or looseness
  • Previously treated and wanting to keep the result stable
in their words

“The whole team explained each step before they did it, and my own dentist had the notes before I got home.”

common questions

Questions patients ask about gum disease

Is treatment painful?

Local anaesthetic is used for anything beyond a routine clean. Tell us if you are anxious about treatment and we will talk it through before starting.

Will I lose teeth?

That depends on how far the disease has progressed. Dr. Dempsey will explain what he finds and what the options are at your first visit.

How often will I need to come back?

Gum disease is managed rather than cured, so most patients move onto a maintenance schedule agreed between us and your general dentist.
